Herman Cain Makes it Official

The Hermanator threw his hat in the ring for president today.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tea Party favorite Herman Cain announced his long-shot presidential candidacy to a raucous crowd in Atlanta Saturday, yelling, "I'm running for president of the United States and I'm not running for second."

At a rally attended by thousands, the businessman, author and talk radio show host showed he knows how to wow a conservative gathering. The crowd chanted, "Herman, Herman, Herman," as Cain unleashed the same soaring rhetoric and relentless attacks on President Obama that has created buzz in recent weeks.

"Let me tell you some of the reasons why I'm running for president of the United States. We have become a nation of crises," he said, citing morals, the economy, entitlement spending, immigration and foreign affairs as among the crises facing the nation.

"And we've got a deficiency of leadership crisis in the White House," he said to roaring cheers.

A long shot? Definitely. But then, what was Barack Obama against the inevitability of a Hillary Clinton candidacy?

The Cain Doctrine: "You Mess With Israel, You Mess With the United States"

Stacy McCain had this great piece of video to cleanse the residue of Obama's folly from earlier this week. On the brighter side, if the world does come to an end in the next twenty four hours, no one will really care just how bad a president Obama truly is.

"You Mess With Israel, You Mess With the United States" Sounds an awful lot like the way we used to treat our allies!

Focus on Herman Cain/ Huckabee's Sour Grapes

According to Frank Luntz’s focus group, Herman Cain was the biggest winner at the South Carolina debate.

I was listening to Mike Huckabee's morning commentary, where he teased his audience with a promise to give his opinion of who the biggest winner was in the debate.

When he came back, he said the biggest winners were "those who decided not to participate". Since Mr. Huckabee's name is being bandied about for president, it was disingenuous not to answer the question honestly, or at least try to be a little bit gracious. Instead, his remark sounded petty and small minded, as from someone either fearful of losing the nomination to one of these men, or someone so insecure in his own abilities that he could not or would not give credit where credit was due. (Or both) Either way, the quality doesn't lend itself to being considered presidential. You can't name the biggest winner, Huck? I can name the biggest loser. He not only didn't participate in the debate, but his sour grapes and pettiness bring his judgment into question. Not unlike another incident from his tenure as governor commuting of the sentence of Maurice Clemmons, who later went on to kill four police officers.

Stick to stories about kittens up a tree, Huck and yakking on the radio. A reprise of your failed presidential candidacy will satisfy no one but you.

Herman Cain at Americans for Prosperity Forum

Can we say "dark horse candidate" and still be politically correct?

Give a listen. This guy is good!

Herman Cain 1, Liberal Shill 0

Over at The Other McCain, Stacy posted this gem about the dynamic Herman Cain confronting a young liberal. The young man pulls out the same tired strawman, that if one is against too much government, then one is arguing against all government. As if to say, if you are a conservative, then you must be an anarchist. Unfortunately for liberals, words mean things.

I blame the public schools.

Herman Cain on the Stump

Herman Cain Wins Presidential Straw Poll in Phoenix

Herman Cain wins Tea Party presidential live straw poll at Phoenix summit

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And, although most straw polls are worth every bit as much straw as you can take away from them, this one is interesting!

Which Republican should become the next president? Herman Cain, according to a number of Tea Party activists gathered at a weekend summit in Phoenix.

Cain, a conservative talk show host and former Godfather's Pizza chief executive, won the American Policy Summit's presidential live straw poll on Sunday. Republican Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the summit's online poll. The survey is a chance for conservative activists gathered on the last day of the Tea Party Patriots conference to name their favorite presidential picks.

Cain won nearly 22 percent of the nearly 1,600 votes cast. Paul won nearly half the votes cast by more than 2,300 online registered attendees. "The mood at this summit shows that Tea Party activists are looking for leaders who share our principles of fiscal responsibility and limited government and who will vow to uphold policies that reflect those principles once in office," said Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots.

"Mr. Cain and Rep. Paul's positions resonated with Tea Party Patriots this weekend and the straw poll indicates the enthusiasm for these strong conservatives," said Mark Meckler, the Patriots' other national coordinator.

I'd make some snarky remark about how Ron Paul's supporters somehow always manage to put him in first place on Internet polls, no matter how little actual support he has, but I already did!

Racists of the Left Fear, Attack Herman Cain

Despicable doesn't even begin to describe this (via Hot Air):

In the immortal words of Megatron in Transformers: The Movie, Herman Cain’s speech at CPAC really is bad comedy. As you know, I find black garbage pail kids black conservatives fascinating not because of what they believe, but rather because of how they entertain and perform for their White Conservative masters.

When race minstrelsy was America’s most popular form of mass entertainment, black actors would often have to pretend to be white men, who then in turn would put on the cork to play the role of the “black” coon, Sambo, or Jumping Jim Crow. Adding insult to injury, in a truly perverse and twisted example of the power of American white supremacy black vaudevillians would often pretend to be white in order to denigrate black people for the pleasures of the white gaze. …

In total, CPAC is a carnival and a roadshow for reactionary Conservatives. It is only fitting that in the great tradition of the freak show, the human zoo, the boardwalk, and the great midway world’s fairs of the 19th and 20th centuries, that there is a Borneo man, a Venus Hottentot or a tribe of cannibals from deepest darkest Africa or Papua New Guinea on display. For CPAC and the White Conservative imagination, Herman Cain and his black and brown kin are that featured attraction.

We always need a monkey in the window, for he/she reminds us of our humanity while simultaneously reinforcing a sense of our own superiority. Sadly, there are always folks who are willing to play that role because it pays so well.

"Monkey in the window"? A scum sucking liberal writing for the site "AlterNet", which I shall not link to here, trots out every racist slur they can imagine and then projects them onto conservatives. To me, this much vitriol* must be genuine and heartfelt, not imagined. This may be due in part, because they have an "alternate" reality in which black is white, right is wrong and intolerance is tolerance.

When it comes to race relations in America, and matters of racial prejudice:
The Leftie doth protest too much, methinks.

Herman Cain on Democrats and S.I.N.

I found this bit of video over at Right Klik. Note particularly at the end, the three tactics of the Democrats:

Shift the subject
Ignore the facts
Name calling.

That's so true! Know any liberal trolls infesting your blogs that this describes? Me, too. And it fits them perfectly.

Update: The rest of the speech:
