The Budget Cuts in Perspective

Here is why I have written next to nothing about the budget battle in Washington: it is absolutely meaningless, because no one is taking it seriously. Here is proof:

US Tax Revenue: $2, 170, 000,000,000
US Budget: $3, 280, 000,000,000
New Debt: $1, 650,000,000,000
National Debt $14, 271, 000,000,000
Budget Cuts: $3, 850, 000,000,000

Now, remove eight zeroes and pretend this is a household budget:

Income: $21,700
Expenses: $38,200
New Debt: $16,500
Outstanding Debt: $142,710
Budget Cuts: $385

Any way you look at it, that is nothing worth talking about.
