Mr. Boehner. Your First Test. Oh Hell No.
By Lady Cincinnatus
Message to Mr. Boehner
Don't even think about making Fred Upton chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. In 2007 Upton, together with Jane Harman (D-CA) sponsored a bill to phase out the 100 watt incandescent light bulb by 2012, closing light bulb plants across the nation and forcing us to buy bulbs that are full of mercury, only manufactured in China and cause headaches and eye problems.
Oh hell no.

NPR: Thought Police
by Lady Cincinnatus

Ah. So, we now learn that Juan Williams has always been a thorn in the side of NPR. And according to NPR, it is expected that proper political analysts must, "give his own analysis – while carefully choosing his words on any given subject."

And if those words are not chosen carefully enough for p.c. muslims and NPR, then you'll be fired...or just fitted with an electro shock collar. The electro shock collars just haven't come in yet.
NPR also goes on to whine that, "NPR's values emphasize fact-based, objective journalism" except when the "fact-base" relates to the real unease of a modern plane boarding caused by 19 muslims who flew planes into buildings that sent almost 3,000 innocent men, women and children to a fiery, violent and hellish death all in the name of Allah (peace be upon him).

CNN's Kyra Phillips and John Roberts Prove They Have No Idea Who Silence Dogood Was
I thought everyone knew that Benjamin Franklin, one of America's earliest known journalists published many of his works under the ANONYMOUS name Silence Dogood and Poor Richard. Might I recommend that CNN's Kyra Phillips and John Roberts take a look at this link to study a bit on Benjamin Franklin writing as Silence Dogood.

New Healthcare Screening Question: What's Your Worth In Gold And Silver Coinage?

New big-nanny-state government wants to know your worth in gold and silver coinage in healthcare bill...remember Pelosi, "We have to pass the bill before we can see what's in it..." Makes one think that some "healthcare patients" will be more "equal" than others...

Anti-Ice Cream Quote O' The Day
Brought to you by Lady C
Question: Your essay offers parallels between Brooklin busybodies and Taliban oppressors. How does the nanny state resemble totalitarian theocracy?
Answer: Consider ice cream: Even a single scoop of vanilla was forbidden to women in pre-war Afghanistan, lest they become decadent and Western. In Brooklyn, moms try to force ice cream trucks out of parks, thus eliminating the temptation to consume fat and sugar. The magnitude of interference is different, but both are looking to the state to protect the people from their worst selves.

Quote O' The Day with Emphasis
Brought to you by Lady C

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." ~ George Washington, First President of the United States

Submission
By Lady Cincinnatus
"A mosque at Ground Zero. We think it symbolizes our "tolerance". They think it symbolizes our submission. Either way, the two most important sites of 9/11 - the scene of the greatest atrocity and the scene of the only good news of the day - will honor neither the victims nor American heroism." ~Mark Steyn

That Which Must Not Be Named Part III
by Lady Cincinnatus

I've used the phrase here and have alluded to it here. That which must not be named. Even our center-right colleagues, those institutions of libertarianism and freedom, like CATO declare, "U.S. policymakers too often manipulate and exaggerate the threat of terrorism."

Cato's argument seems to be that we aren't in the midst of a religious war unless we make it so. Oh, really? Is that why the shooter at Fort Hood declared 'Allah Akbar' before taking out his victims. Is that way the 9/11 hijackers went through a series of Muslim religious rituals to prepare themselves for martyrdom prior to killing almost 3,000 innocent men, women and children in one morning. You can declare that the day is beautiful and sunny but that doesn't change the fact that a tornado is building on the horizon on its way to spreading death and destruction. Evil is like that. Some refuse to hear, see or speak of it until it is upon them. The entire German population were not card-carrying SS Nazi storm-troopers, but that meant little once a few handful of radicals under the leadership of Herr Hitler came to power.
Is this non-religious war also why Osama bin Laden himself said,
"It is the duty of Muslims to prepare as much as possible to terrorize the enemies of God...Acquiring weapons [WMD] for the defense of Muslims is a religious duty. If I have acquired these weapons, then I thank God for enabling me to do so...If I seek to acquire such weapons [WMD], this is a religious duty. How we use them is up to us." (December 1999)
So while those who seek to destroy Western culture through means cultural and military are about their business of growing ever stronger, we have the president's top counterterrorism advisor on Wednesday saying that jihad is a "legitimate tenet of Islam."
"During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, John Brennan described violent extremists as victims of “political, economic and social forces,” but said that those plotting attacks on the United States should not be described in “religious terms."
