Democrat Talking Points Still Impervious to Facts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Was watching Fox News Sunday this AM, two Congressional freshmen, Allen West R-FL and Donna Edwards D-MD were on and the one thing that stuck out for me was Ms. Edwards (no relation to John, we trust) kept parroting the line about "two wars" that were "unpaid for". What is Libya, Ms. Edwards? Chopped liver??

I think the hundreds of millions of dollars Obama has spent in taking military action against Libya meet every criteria for an "unpaid for" war as anything Bush did.

Is it their math which is fraudulent, or just their rabid partisanship in sticking to their talking points, no matter what?

Obama: ‘No Excuse’ for Not Reaching Budget Deal

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Obama Van Winkle (asleep since October)

At an impromptu news conference at the White House, President Obama said there was “no excuse” for failing to pass a budget for the rest of this year, and that he was no longer willing to accept one short-term deal after another to temporarily keep agencies running.

“I can’t have my agencies making plans on two-week budgets,” he said. “What we are not going to do is once again put off something that should have gotten done months ago.”

How many months ago, Barry? Since Congress has the Constitutional responsibility to have a budget in place before the fiscal year starts in October, who was in charge of Congress last September? Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi! And who was in the White House to grant counsel and leadership and sign the budget once they passed it? Why, that would have been you, Mr. President!

Democrats could have written a budget to give NPR and Sesame Street and Planned Parenthood and Obama's Aunt Zeituni as much money as they wanted without risking a government "shut down" for over a year.

It is disingenuous of the president to imply that Republicans were somehow "dragging their feet" for months, when it was the Democrats who controlled the complete budget process and played political games with it, not willing to commit their spending plans to paper in an election year.

And then, Obama has the chutzpah to tell Republicans not to "play games", in light of the Democrats' un-Constitutional inactivity. Add to that the question, why is it "playing games" for Republicans to ask for cuts in a time of budgetary short falls, but it is not "playing games" for Democrats to insist that every program currently funded be held sacrosanct?

There's a word for that, President Barack H. Obama. It starts with an "H".

The word is "hypocrisy". (Although "demagoguery" would also fit!)

Oh, and speaking of "playing games", which side brings in Big Bird and Elmo to make their case for them? Yeah. Right.

Are You Happy With The Price You Pay at the Pump?

Then, thank a Democrat! I know that sounds kind of like a partisan shot, but really! Remember the bilge and blather that Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts have been pumping for years? Gasoline was $2.32/ gallon the day before Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. She said that the price of gas was too high, and the Democrats were going to change that!

Millions were invested in "green" energy, billions were funneled to ethanol subsidies, tax breaks were taken away from oil companies, all of which were calculated by the Democrats to "help our economy", increase national security, and drive gas prices down. How successful have they been so far?

And the reasons they gave for the "high" gas price of $2.32 (and rising)? One of them that you just don't hear much any more, (wonder why?) is that the President (Bush) was "too cozy" with the oil companies. Remember that one? Well, for more than two years we have had a president who is definitely not "cozy" with big oil companies. (At least, not the ones in this country. Brazil is another story!). If the Democrats weren't totally delusional or lying to us, getting rid of that "cozy" relationship should have, according to them, caused gas prices to go down. How's that working out for them? For you? For the country?

They say the classic sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and looking for different results. How much longer are we going to leave energy policy in the hands of those who cannot even properly identify the problem much less offer a sane or rational solution?

Herman Cain on Democrats and S.I.N.

I found this bit of video over at Right Klik. Note particularly at the end, the three tactics of the Democrats:

Shift the subject
Ignore the facts
Name calling.

That's so true! Know any liberal trolls infesting your blogs that this describes? Me, too. And it fits them perfectly.

Update: The rest of the speech:

Compromise With The Democrats?

Inside the Beltway and around the country, people (mostly liberals) are talking about how the Republicans should compromise with the Obama administration. The following graphic probably states the feelings and intentions of most conservatives:

The Democrats' Maginot Line

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

John Harwood, Washington reporter for CNBC, was on NBC news tonight, reporting on what the Democrats are doing to prepare for November. As he spoke of the Dems retreating from funding several races, he used an unfortunate* metaphor. He said that the Democrats were drawing a Maginot Line to defend against losses in the Fall.

Perhaps the French could tell Mr. Harwood just how successful that was?**

Here's hoping you're right on the money, John! Heh.

*Depending on which side you're on!

**It was expensive, provided a false sense of security and ultimately failed at its intended purpose.

Bounce Barbara Boxer - Barbie's Bad Week

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
That hand you feel on your wallet? It's hers.

Jim Geraghty over at The Campaign Spot ran a series of article on Barbara Bouncer (Boxer). Here's a taste...

So far this week, we have examined Senator Barbara Boxer’s purchasing of endorsements, the five-figure expenses tied to her jaunts to do “official business” at beach resorts, her 143 bounced checks for more than $40,000 in three years, and massive payments to her family from campaign funds. (Notice that you don’t need to be a conservative Republican to find any of these issues troubling.)

Today, we examine the possibility that Boxer is… not really in touch with what is going on around her.

There's a word for that..."Liberal".

Even those who agree with her stances acknowledge she is not an effective leader...

It may be tough to lead when you have a habit of making assertions that don’t line up with… well, all known facts and the perspectives of roughly everyone else on the planet.

She’s argued that “I’m going to put in the record … a host of quotes from our national security experts who tell us that carbon pollution leading to climate change will be over the next 20 years the leading cause of conflict, putting our troops in harm’s way.” More than religious and ideological extremism? More than ethnic conflict? More than the profits and power from drug cartels or people smuggling? More than the age-old phenomenon of strong nations attempting to subjugate weak ones, like Russia’s annexation of Georgian territories?

We see a lot of that from some of the left-of-center trolls on this site. They provide cut and paste quotes in lieu of coherent argument.

Back in early 1992, Washington was rocked by the revelation that the House of Representatives was allowing members to overdraw their House checking accounts without penalty, leaving debts unpaid for months at a time. Then-congresswoman Barbara Boxer insisted for months that she’d had no problems with her account at the House bank. Then she admitted she had bounced 87 checks and did not know the amount. Bank records ultimately showed she bounced 143 checks worth $41,417. Boxer insisted she had no idea that she had bounced checks and only learned of the matter when she read about it in the press

Oh, yeah! People who manage money well could have easily written 143 bad checks without knowing about it! /sarcasm

Barbara Bouncer is the product of an earlier time, when the country was prosperous enough to overlook the profligacy (and ignorance) of its "ruling class". Congress could p*ss away large sums of money or fund wasteful, useless projects and the Engine of Democracy and Freedom would drag them in its wake.

Amateur hour is over. The Democrat Party under the "leadership" of Barack Obama has taken an economy that was heading for a ditch and hit the accelerator.

Time to remedy that, starting November 2nd. I can see November from here!

Obama's Middle Class Honesty Cuts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Obama would much rather control the narrative than control the economy. This is nowhere more apparent than in the administration's attempt to spin the extension of the Bush era tax cuts into "Obama's middle class tax cuts".

An extension would merely maintain the status quo. Your tax rate in January would be the same as it is today. No cut. None. Nada. Zip. Zero. But in Democrat-speak, not raising your taxes the way the Democrats wanted (it was they who voted to make Bush's tax cuts temporary), is granting you a tax cut.

This hearkens back to the old Congressional accounting system where a tax increase was proposed, Congress Critters would vote for a figure smaller than the one proposed, that was still a tax increase, yet they would brag (with the MSM as their willing accomplices) that they had "cut taxes" (from the proposed increase, not actually).

Thus, anyone advocating not raising anyone's taxes in our currently weak economy, is advocating...wait for it..."tax cuts for the rich". Or what we call in a little place I like to call reality: Leaving things the way they are.

Raising taxes in a recession is a bad idea. The fact that the Obama administration is contemplating raising anyone's taxes, borders on malfeasance if not incompetence.
The fact that they want to portray not raising your taxes as a "tax cut" either speaks of how ill acquainted these guys are with reality or honesty (or both). It also illustrates the liberals' view of who your money belongs to. It belongs to the government, according to them. For letting you keep a portion of that, you should be grateful.

The fact that they want to portray not raising taxes on small businesses and "the rich", as a tax cut", (i.e., people who might be in a position to actually create jobs), Obama, Pelosi and Co. demonstrate that they would much rather control the narrative than to provide meaningful or effective leadership to the country and an end to Obama's Economic Malaise.

Count on Democrat Leadership...

...to weigh the economy down like an anchor, abandon it at the bottom of the ocean and then go out and shoot eighteen holes of golf, basking in the warm, self satisfaction of good intentions!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Liberty at Stake has a great chart on unemployment under Democrat leadership. The chart's a little top heavy, but, since 2007 under Pelosi and Reid, so has been Democrat leadership in the US.

Obama's lead foot just drove us into the ditch even faster. Say what you will, but the trend has been steady and started in 2007.

Carly Fiorina's New Ad

You know the words "Barbara Boxer" and "qualified for the US Senate" should never be used in a sentence that does not contain the word "not".

Still, the latest ad from Carly Fiorina, to me, smacks a little bit of class envy. See what you think?

New Dem Logo

Because the old brand was wearing thin, the mental marvels at the DNC came up with a new logo. It should come in handy.

Rx for November Democrats: Tylenol

Extra_Strength_Tylenol_and_Tylenol_PM

by the Left Coast Rebel

A reader just sent me a tip on a miracle compound for Democrats, post November 11.

He read it and thought that it was a simply perfect solution for Democrat-pain - it's a study on Tylenol recently performed by the University of Florida:

Over-the-counter painkiller may help ease emotional slights, UF study finds

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Maybe that disgruntled JetBlue flight attendant should have popped a couple of Tylenols.

A University of Florida researcher says acetaminophen, an ingredient in the popular over-the-counter pain reliever, may relieve social pain from hurt feelings. The findings suggest for the first time that emotional and physical pain are interrelated, said Gregory Webster, a UF psychologist who co-authored the study with a team of researchers.

“We think that social pain piggybacks onto physical pain and the two systems sort of bleed into each other, so that just as you feel emotional distress from physical pain, the social pain of having a romance breakup or getting a horrible grade can translate into feeling sick to your stomach or getting a bad headache,” he said.
I love the idea and it sounds like it might just do the trick for Democrats. Think about it - the bases are covered. Tylenol may actually relieve social pain from hurt feelings and the corresponding, piggy-backing physical pain...

This is simply an incurable condition with statist-socialist Democrats, though:

Acetaminophen may also show promise in curtailing antisocial behavior, Webster said.
PS - Please keep the Tylenol secret just that. Or better yet, if you prescribe Tylenol for post-traumatic Democrat stress, make sure you advise copious alcohol consumption as well.

Then that way, they won't know the magic bullet.

You can't fix stupid but you can vote it out of office and make the pain go away.

Tsunami in November and Barack Without a Surfboard!

Democrat pollster Pat Caddell's forecasting a Republican blowout in November. James Carville has got his finger either in the pie or on the pulse here. This could be a continuing stratagem in the Hillary 2012 campaign. While Obama hopes in vain to pin any failures between November and 2012 on Republican obstructionism, Carville and company will be blaming Obama for the loss of Democrat seats, in addition to running the country into the ditch, beyond the ditch and over the cliff.

Charlotte McCourt Leaves this World and a Message for Harry Reid

Where will Harry Reid point his finger in retirement?

by the Left Coast Rebel

Good Lord, what does this story tell us about the level of scoundrel that Senate majority leader Harry Reid is? John L. Smith in the Las Vegas Review Journal writes:

Chances are good you never met Charlotte McCourt during her 84 years, but I’m willing to bet you’ll be hearing about her in the coming days now that her obituary has taken Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to task. It’s the kind of small story that has the potential to ricochet like a bullet through the campaign showdown between incumbent Reid and Republican challenger Sharron Angle.

Not because McCourt, who died July 8 after a long illness, was a political player or business powerbroker, but precisely because she was neither of those things. She was a homemaker, proud mother and grand mother and wife of 67 years to Patrick McCourt.

And she was at one time a loyal supporter of Harry Reid.

Her obituary, printed in Tuesday’s Review-Journal, reads in part, “We believe that Mom would say she was mortified to have taken a large role in the election of Harry Reid to U.S. Congress. Let the record show Charlotte was displeased with his work. Please, in lieu of flowers, vote for another more worthy candidate.”

It sounds like Charlotte McCourt was quite a lady - probably a real character too. It's too bad she was swindled and bamboozled by such a crook. Remember concerned citizens, America has an alternative to Harry Reid - her name is Sharron Angle. Read about her and support her here.

UPDATED: Well how about that? Legal Insurrection informs us that Charlotte McCourt was Harry Reid's campaign manager way back in the day. With this new knowledge, the title to this post should be, "Former Reid Campaign Manager Charlotte McCourt Leaves Message in Obituary."
