Cinco de Mayo, Obama Style

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Today, following a long line of presidents, Obama laid the traditional Cinco de Mayo wreath at the site of the World Trade Center.

Huh? What??

NEW YORK -- After meeting with New York firefighters and police, President Barack Obama on Thursday placed a wreath at the site of the World Trade Center during a trip designed to comfort New Yorkers and remind the nation that his administration had fulfilled the promise to bring Osama bin Laden, the world's most wanted terrorist, to justice.

I know that it is traditional for presidents to mark solemn occasions with wreaths laid at the graves of the fallen. For the last two years, Vice President Joe Biden did it at Arlington National Cemetery, on Memorial Day, because Obama apparently had more important stuff to do.

And 9/11? Obama spent 2009 trying to change the remembrance away from 9/11 and substitute a "National Day of Service". On September 7th, 2009, it became apparent that Obama had designated the weekend before as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. Why wouldn't anyone in their right mind want to remember 9/11 on...wait for it...9/11?

Are you aware of Obama's 9/11 Chutzpah? Instead of commemorating 9/11 on say...9/11, the White House has proclaimed Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. Did you get that? Have you even heard of it before now? The last three days are when you are supposed to remember 9/11. Missed it? Too bad! Obama's got other things planned for the real 9/11!

Rather than go and lay a wreath at Ground Zero in 2009, he quietly designated the Labor Day Weekend as "Days of Remembrance" and then tried to sell the country on making 9/11 a "National Service Day", whatever that is!

And how about 2010?

WASHINGTON — The White House says President Barack Obama will mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks at the Pentagon.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs says Vice President Joe Biden will travel to New York for Saturday's anniversary. First Lady Michelle Obama will join former first lady Laura Bush in Pennsylvania for ceremonies marking the crash of United Flight 93.

Obama also spoke at the remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon last year, the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks since he took office.

So, on the real days of remembrance to honor the fallen, Memorial Day and 9/11, Obama can't be found at Arlington or Ground Zero with a search warrant. But, on Cinco de freaking Mayo, when Obama wants to bask in the adulation for his part in taking out bin Laden, after passing two opportunities to honor the fallen of 9/11 on 9/11, now he wants to take a day off the links and lay a wreath at Ground Zero?

Pardon me if I question his sincerity.
